Highly acclaimed Greek indie-pop experimentalist Leon of Athens has unveiled his brand new song ‘Xenos’. Leading with dark creeping electronics and stark guitars, the song is the first single from the new album recorded with producer David Kosten (Bat for Lashes, Everything Everything).
The original Greek meaning of ‘Xenos’ translates to stranger, also depending on context interpreted as alien, guest, foreigner or enemy. Currently living in London, the Athens native delivers a powerful song with an important message for these turbulent times.
To mark the release of ‘Xenos’, Leon Of Athens will return to his adopted home city, to play a headline show at The Lexington on Friday March 17th.
“Brainy pop inspired by Bernardo Bertolucci, inflected with electronic, folk and other flavours” – The Guardian“In this place where tragedy was invented, the song was joyful and sadly cathartic.” –New York Times
“Leon of Athens has mastered the art of electronica-tickled,horn-smattered, melodic pop.” – NME
