Event Details

Cosmo Sheldrake – 25 year old multi-instrumentalist Cosmo Sheldrake has composed music for film and theatre performing on an array of different instruments. An inspirational singer, much of his output is concerned with play, nonsense and the sonorous environment. 2014 saw his debut single through Transgressive Records picking up support across radio and print/online, the following year saw a short run of sold out shows and debut EP ‘Pelicans We’. With various dates in the US and Japan, Cosmo is working on new material and the release of his debut album is set for early next year.

Mary Epworth – On the eve of her forthcoming album ‘Elytral’, Sunday Best’s Mary Epworth returns following her acclaimed debut ‘Dream Life’ in 2012. The album immediately feels unlike her previous work while being a natural progression, containing as it does the overlapping themes of nature and the vastness of the world, but arriving with greater ferocity and a letting loose of her darker instincts through grinding, splintered soundscapes. It’s not unusual to find Epworth marvelling at the minutiae of nature, so it’s no wonder that it has seeped into her music. Taking its name from a word that describes the smooth armour worn by beetles, giving them the external steeliness that belies the filminess below, the album title is, she reflects; “about resilience and stamina, but also having this light and colour.”

Laucan – Following his debut EP ‘Up Tomorrow’, new Sunday Best signing Laucan unveils his debut album ‘Framespersecond’ in July. The album sets impressionist lyrical images and heart-in-mouth reveries on innocence lost to sublime music: poised between spectral folk and immersive soundscapes, it’s the sound of a singer who found something special in his attic-based isolation.
