THE ORIELLES

Halifax’s fast rising The Orielles have announced details of a run of headline shows in November of this year. The band also have a hectic summer planned with a number of festival slots including appearances at Green Man, Sea Change, Port Eliot and Truck.

The band, made up of sisters Sidonie B and Esmé Dee Hand Halford and their best friend Henry Carlyle Wade, still aged only 21, 18 & 17 respectively, released their debut single Sugar Tastes Like Salt earlier this year on Heavenly Recordings to much acclaim. The eight-minute plus burst of spatial-funk that in part recalled both ESG and fellow north-west pioneers A Certain Ratio, was produced by Marta Salogni, one of the most exciting young producers in the UK right now.

BOY AZOOGA

Boy Azooga is the project of Cardiff Born Davey Newington, whilst playing drums in Charlotte Church’ Pop Dungeon under the pseudonym “Bongo Fury” and other Cardiff bands such as Keys and Monico Blonde, Davey began writing his own music and recording it round his mate Dr Ed Boogie’s house.

Recording and layering everything himself, he decided on the live front he needed a band. He recruited friends Daf, Dylan and Sam to form the four headed instrument swapping psychedlic dance rock outfit known as Boy Azooga.

Their songs are packed with a love of all kinds of music from The Beach Boys, Sly and The Family Stone, Caribou, Black Sabbath, William Onyeabor, King Gizzard and The Lizard Wizard, Beastie Boys, Can, Outkast, Van McCoy, Ty Segal and so much much more. They hope to see you at a gig soon and will have a maraca for you to shake.

DAN STOCK

Having established himself as a solo artist across the last twelve months, Milton Keynes based Dan Stock’s first release, ‘Bright Ideas’, debuted on Huw Stephens’ Radio One show to an abundance of recognition and praise for his unforgettable and candid quality of Songwriting.

“Awash with attitude and importance, tightly rolled up in anthemic brilliance”

Recent recording sessions at Egypt Lane Studios (Buckinghamshire) with Jack Gooderham, drummer/percussionist of London based band Wyldest, yielded a collection of killer songs, instantly fitting of the soundtrack of our lives.
